Kahtmayan played thrash metal, but gradually made progressive approaches with Dream Theatre influences.
In July 2005, Kahtmayan released its first album, Exir, by Ava Khorshid Company. With the release of Exir, Kahtmayan shifted their music towards a more thrash metal sound. Another album, Virtual Existence, is in progressive metal style and it is performed by guitar, bass, keyboard and drums. In instruction of this album, Kahtmayan has used some of melodic elements and various atmospheres (in harmonic point of view) and rhythms. Virtual Existence which involved 9 tracks was finished by Homayoon Majdzadeh on 2002, and was finally released in the Spring of 2009.
